Term 2, Week 3 - 6th May, 2021
From the Deputy Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to Week 3 of Term 2! It has been wonderful to see the students settle in quickly to the busyness of Term 2 and to see many children engaged and focused when it comes to their learning.
School Song – Let Your Light Shine
During Week 2, the staff and students had a very eventful time practicing and filming our new school song, ‘Let Your Light Shine’. On filming day, we started with recording the backing track for the new school song with solos, small groups and finally as the whole school. Students were then filmed at various venues around town such as the railway, the town sign, Qualipac Farms and Green Up Meeting Place. It was wonderful to see so many families there to support the filming of our new song after school on Friday at Green Up! Thank you all for coming along and allowing your child to be a part of this incredible opportunity.
Mother’s Day Liturgy
Please join us for our Mother’s Day Liturgy at 9:30 am this Friday in the 3-6 classroom as we take time to appreciate and celebrate all the important women in our lives.
SMG Colour Run
The St Maria Goretti Colour Run is fast approaching with it being next Sunday 16th May, 9:00am at the Inglewood Golf Course. We are very excited to be hosting this event again for 2021 after having to cancel last year due to COVID 19 restrictions. It was an extremely enjoyable, colour-filled morning for everyone involved and cannot wait to bring it back to Inglewood again for round 2! In 2019 we raised just over $2,000 for our small school and would love to top that value this year. We have received a small number of nominations so far but are hoping to see a lot more come in over the next couple of days. A reminder that nominations are due by Wednesday 12th May 2021. Hope to see you there!
Enjoy the rest of your week and keep warm!
Yours faithfully,
Olivia McNamara
Deputiser

Life and Learning in the Library
We are preparing to participate in National Simultaneous Story-time (NSST), an Australian wide event, on Wednesday 19th May by listening to the book ”Give Me Some Space.” We are also locating some amazing facts about life in space using resources found in our library database, AccessIT.
A great big thank you to Mrs Murphy for creating the beautiful planets we are enjoying in our library space, along with the display arranged by Mrs Smith. Rory has created some fabulous space related lego pieces to add interest.
- Check out the links to amazing space videos on our AccessIT homepage
- Remember to enter the colouring competition available here NSS2021 - Learn From Play or collect a copy from the library and return it to Mrs Anderson for submission. Please add a title and your name on the back of your finished work.
Thank you for overseeing the weekly return of library books, we have had a great return rate for the start of the term.
