Socktober 2024
This Socktober we are raising money for Catholic Mission to support the Caring Centre in Mongolia.
But why? As a Catholic school, we seek to inspire students to make a difference. Through discovering the personal stories of young people in need, and what is being done to support them, our students have a better understanding of the importance of mission in places such as Mongolia and the critical role they play in supporting it. This week in religion lessons, our students have learnt about the social justice issues in Mongolia and how they (and others) can contribute to positive change.
Learn more about the Caring Centre, here - Socktober
Please see below some heartfelt prayers written by the 5/6 students, and some persuasive letters written by the students in 2/3/4.

Let me tell you a story about a little boy called Otgonbayar, he was left abandoned by his family. He survived the cold, hunger and loneliness before the police found him and took him to an orphanage at only 7 days old. He is now at the Mongolian Care Centre with other children who were also left alone to die. Because of this Care Centre, Otgonbayar and the other children now have a future. There is something you can do to put a smile on everyone’s face: search up Socktober and make some little faces light up with your donation.
Jessie, Year 3
Do you want to help make the world a better place? If you do, it can all start with donating $1 and it can help to save a life. This $1 goes towards the people that are helping children at the Mongolian Care Centre. They feed, clothe, play, provide school items to help them learn and have a healthy and smart brain like us. Donate today to let these amazing people continue what they do. Thank you for taking your time to help people in need.
Evelyn, Year 3
There are over 128 million children orphaned all over the world, let me tell you a story of a little boy called Otgonbayar. He was found on the cold streets of Mongolia at only 7 days old. When people found him they fed him and gave him clothes. These people were only able to give him these items because people donated to Catholic Mission, so make your donation now and help make the world a better place.
Celeste, Year 4
CRAZY SOCK DAY!
We will be having another dress up day to raise funds and awareness this Socktober. Next Thursday the 31st of October is CRAZY SOCK DAY. Please bring a gold coin donation and wear your craziest socks! All monies raised goes towards the important cause of supporting the Caring Centre in Mongolia.
Day for Daniel
On Friday 25 October (this Friday) we will join with the rest of Australia in acknowledging ‘Day for Daniel’. It is a child safety and protection initiative that aims to help empower our children to Recognise, React and Report if they feel something is not right.
‘Wear Red, Educate & Donate’ is the theme of ‘Day for Daniel’.
All students are invited to wear something red (t-shirt, socks, shoelaces, ribbons). Please bring a gold coin donation. All monies raised will be forwarded to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

Happy World Teachers' Day!
I am incredibly proud to lead a school that has so many inspired and passionate teachers who make a difference to the lives of young people every day.
This Friday we celebrate World Teachers’ Day. Our teachers deliberately make a connection with every child in their class. Our teachers share stories about Jesus to serve as a role-model for the children. Our teachers nurture, care and support your child’s emotional growth. Our teachers have a laser-like focus on your child’s learning. Our teachers plan, collaborate, question, discuss, explore, reflect and discover ways to help your child be the best they can be. Our teachers are privileged to work with your children. Your children are blessed and very fortunate to have our teachers helping shape their young lives.
Please join me tomorrow in celebrating the teaching staff at St Maria Goretti.
We have had a flood of Cent Sale prizes come into our office over the past week. Thank you so much to our parents & the wider community for your generosity. The Cent Sale is this Saturday at the Civic Centre. We hope to see you there for a fun night out!
Yours in education,
Casey Robinson
