From the Acting Principal

Dear parents & carers,

Welcome to 2025

Welcome back to the new school year for 2025. I am delighted to assume the role of Acting Principal for Term 1, as Casey transitions to the position of Education Officer – Generalist in the Toowoomba Office for the Term. Please join me in extending our best wishes to her in this new endeavour. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to our staff, students, parents, and the broader community for their warm welcome of me in this new role. With your continued support, I am committed to maintaining a safe and thriving educational environment that fosters student success.

The new academic year has begun with great enthusiasm, as our students are already demonstrating an eagerness to learn and succeed, and I look forward to witnessing their ongoing development and attainment of their goals over the coming weeks and months, aided by the expertise and dedication of our Teachers and School Officer.

NAPLAN – Parent Support

NAPLAN will be conducted during Weeks 7 and 8 of Term 1. You will find a copy of the NAPLAN Testing Schedule below. Day 4 is a catch-up day provided for students who are absent during the planned sessions.

The purpose of NAPLAN is to assess the literacy and numeracy skills your child is already learning at school. NAPLAN is about assessing learning progress and is not about passing or failing. Encouraging your child to do the best they can on the day is the best approach for preparing your child. Excessive preparation or the use of NAPLAN coaching is not necessary or recommended.

You can refer to the NAPLAN 2025 Information for Parents and Carers brochure included in our newsletter for your convenience. This document will provide you with tips and tricks to support your child through NAPLAN.

If you have any questions about NAPLAN, please contact the front office on 07 4652 1109 as a first step.

Yours faithfully,

Liv Osborne

Acting Principal

OUR LIBRARY - A WINDOW TO THE WORLD IN 2025!

We celebrate Queensland Schools Library Week from 10th - 14th February with the theme School Libraries Window to the World. Students will contribute their ideas around using the library to see the world and have an opportunity to enter the creative competition run by the Queensland School Library Association (QSLA) see details below.

QSLW2025_Social_Tile.jpg

Prep - Year 2: What is your favourite story? Draw or paint a picture to illustrate this. Your picture should be on an A4 sheet. Add a caption if you like.

Year 3 - Year 6: The theme is Window to the World. Produce an artwork to reflect the theme Window to the World.

All entries will need to be in the library by Monday 17th February and one entry from each category will be chosen to go to the state competition.

Read more about the competition, and see last year's entries at Qld School Library Week — Queensland School Library Association

Library Browse and Borrow Timetable

Borrowing opportunities have begun so please check in with your students and share some reading time with their free choice books.

Thank you for providing library bags. Students are required to have their bag at school to be able to take their loans home. Thank you also for supporting the packing of library bags and books for return on Thursday each week.

Library Displays

Our library is full of colour and books on display to encourage students to read about Australia and the natural and man-made features of our amazing country. Thanks  Mrs Smith for the wonderful displays we all enjoy!
