From the Deputy Principal

Dear Families,
A warm welcome back to Term 4!
Term 4 is always a busy and exciting term, filled with so much learning, growth, and engaging activities. We have many wonderful things to look forward to over the coming weeks!
The students have already started their swimming lessons again and the water has been beautiful! 3-6 students swimming lessons are on Monday afternoon 1:45pm-2:45pm and P-2 students swimming lessons are Wednesday afternoon 1:45pm-2:45pm.
All students have been working hard on practicing The Jungle Book, ready for our performance in Week 8 – a huge thank you to Mrs. McGovern for being our superstar drama guru. Please start gathering/borrowing your child’s costume items over the coming weeks and have them ready by Week 6 of Term 4 for a dress rehearsal.
Additionally, we have our whole school camp in Week 7. This year we will be heading back to the same fantastic venue we attended in 2023: the Gold Coast Recreation Precinct. Please make sure to complete the Sentral for Parents form to give your child/children permission before the 28th of October.
This weekend, we have our biggest fundraiser of the year – The Cent Sale! We sincerely hope to see many of you there supporting our PEN group and helping us raise essential funds for the school.
Looking ahead, we’re focused on continuing to foster a learning environment where every child feels safe, supported, and inspired. With your continued involvement and enthusiasm, I know this term will be one filled with connection, growth, and great memories.
Wishing you all a wonderful week!
Kind regards,
Miss Darcy Barnes

Mary MacKillop Way Award Term 4 Focus
Our focus for the Mary MacKillop Way Award this term is on: "Work with constancy and courage" (Mary MacKillop, 1876).
This award recognises students who always put in the best effort they can and are generous in the efforts they make, ensuring they are making the most of the opportunities we are given. This looks like actively being enthusiastic and putting in a big effort across all areas of school life. Specifically, we are looking for students who demonstrate this constancy and courage by using our time well in class, being well organised, and showing respect for our school day by responding to bells promptly and responding to instructions promptly from all staff.
Celebrating 75 Years of St Maria Goretti School, Inglewood in 2026!

Save the Date!
In 2026, St Maria Goretti School marks a remarkable milestone — 75 years of learning, community, and legacy.
We're inviting past, present, and future families, along with the wider Inglewood community, to help us shape a celebration to remember!
Date: Saturday 10th October and Sunday 11th October
Whether you're a former student, a current parent, a future enrollee, current or former staff, or a proud local, we invite you to join us to celebrate this milestone! Let’s come together to honour our history and look ahead to a bright future. This is your chance to be part of something truly special.

Our Read-aloud novel for Years 3-6 is Runt and the Diabolical Dognapping which continues the story of the Shearer family and their clever, award-winning dog Runt. Book 1 Runt, available in our library, makes a great family read and was released as a family movie late last year.

Student Protection Contacts
Keeping Our Students Safe: The Role of Student Protection Contacts
At our school, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our top priority. That’s why we have Student Protection Contacts (SPCs)—staff members who are specially trained to support students if they feel unsafe or have concerns.
SPCs are approachable, trusted adults that students can talk to. They listen, offer support, and take the right steps to ensure each concern is handled with care and in line with student protection procedures.
If you’d like to know who our SPCs are or learn more about their role, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.
